Junk Yard

Junk Yard

My short story is about Fred and how nature does not do good out of it's habitat.  The Rising Action includes Fred and his family everyday life of a lawyer, Fred getting bored/visiting client because of job, Fred  buying Baby Tiger from Junk Yard.  Fred is going to go visit a client since he is a lawyer.  Fred was convinced that he could only be repaid fro the man in the tiger because his family needed food and that is all they had.  Climax is the baby tiger going in to attic.

The Falling Action is the Tiger's possibility of falling through the roof, What happens when it grows up?, Pearl (Fred's wife) getting mad, Fred returning Tiger.  Resolution is Everything goes back to normal/Fred returning Tiger.  Pearl was very worried if the tiger would fall thought the roof and attack the kids or damage the house.  The baby tiger got there because a long time ago they did not have air conduction and had holes from the attic to keep it cool, from over heating.  Protagonist vs. Antagonist (Man vs. Nature.)  Theme Can't fight Nature/ Can't put nature out of natural habitat.  I don't want to spoil it for you and give you too much information, so that is all I am going to give out, read my short story when it comes out!

English Class

Year after year I have english class.  Ever year it is mostly the same, good sometimes just ok.  However this is different, it has been great.  In class we have been able to be more creative which I think is important tool in life that students have lost in high school.  For example we are doing our short story and we can do any character or any one we can make up, think of the possibilities.  Although some of class time it is important to get ground work done, in every class which is the same.  There is one difference, our class is more of a discussion than a lesson plan, I really like that.  English has been great this year, even when we started summer reading till today an hopefully later this year.

Summer reading this year was great I loved it, which hash;t happened in a while.  Another one of my favorite things about this class is that we also to get to publish a book.  How fun?  Our class will be a published author, how many classes can say that?  I really enjoy this class not only because of the summer reading or the short stories, but the discussions.  Honestly that is my favorite part.  I hope English class will be this great later on in the year, and keeping me update on creativeness.

Waking Up

Man, today has been a long day.  I am so tired.  I really want a coke.  Should I go and get one?  No.  I will wake up Pearl, she already does so much for me and she is tired.  I also want to smoke.  I shouldn't I will wake up Pearl.  I wonder if I need to charge my phone or if it is charging.  Where should I take Sutter for his birthday for dinner or will he decide?  I wonder where he will go?

After falling asleep, then waking up five minutes later.

I thought I fell asleep, I want to go to bed I am so tired.  But what will I go do tomorrow.  Probably golf.  I like golf.  What will Pearl do tomorrow?  I don't know, should we go out to eat for lunch.  Does she want to get out of the house?  Should I go out to eat with Edward?  I wonder where Kimberly is and what is Suzanne doing?  I am tired and going to bed.  Oh and Dear God, thank you for all I have and for the beautiful day today and for another one tomorrow.  Amen.  Goodnight.

Short Stories

I love short stories.  I don't think I have heard of them before Dr. deGravelles class, either I have but not very much or not at all.  I think they are the perfect writing excircise for my age group.  It makes you be imaginative because you can do anything school appropriate.  Conforms you to have time management.  All while writing a story.  The people my age want to do something fun and everyone knows that stories are fun, that is another reason why I think this is a great idea!

Also why I like short stories is because they can be a long or short story.  What I am trying to say is that the range is very wide for what kind of story you would like to write.  I think short stories can conform to anyone's writing abilities and what they want to write about.  It is like silly putty for writer's.  That is why I think short stories are great and love them.

Reading Response

In English Class this week we did peer editing and revising.  We each read each other's Literacy Narrative and marked anything they should change or anything they did good.  It was very helpful because you got feedback on your paper and enjoyed reading someone else's.  One of the papers I read wad Omar's.  It was great.  It described about how his mother and him had gone to the library and his father and him had gone to the book store.  He described how the library has that certain glorious spell and how the Liberian read him Cat in The Hat with the blue cover and the cat with the big hat on the cover.  Omar's dad took him to the movies before he went to the book store and the popcorn was his favorite part.  I really enjoyed reading Omar's Literacy Narrative.
The paper I read that day during peer review brought me back to Omar's childhood.  I felt like I was actually there.  His literacy narrative had great vivid detail, although he lacked sentence fluency which he later fixed.  Omar's Literacy Narrative was great, it was like reading a book.  I suggest that when ever we do a paper that we should do peer editing and revising.  Doing this startagy makes you a better editor and revisor all while having fun.

E-Book and My Literacy Narrative

My literacy narrative is mainly safe for the public.  However I do want to maybe change some names.  I am so excited for creating the e-book.  The experience is great and that we are going to make it as a class and be a published author.  I can't wait, and I know a lot of people in my class can't either.  One main thing I think we should do is add a wordle and pictures.
Another thing that I am concerned about is that if people are going to contribute and give ideas.  I defiantly will, but in class it seemed like in class nobody did.   I am very excited to put my work in a "book" and be a published author.  I know it will be great!

Brothers and Sisters

Samantha screamed "Mom!"

"What darling?" Her mother spoke with such grace.

"I am been tackled!" Samantha said in a way that seemed obvious.

"By who?"

"By Max!"  Samantha said in a annoyed tone.

"Max!"  Her mother called him over.

"Yes maim?"  He said in a innocent way.

"Did you tackle your sister?"  Her mother questioned him in a reasonable way.  No response.

"Max" she said more firmly.

"Ummm maybe"  He said trying to sound innocent.

"Max, did you tackle your sister?"

"Yes maim"  he said very quietly.

"Max, you know that is not right!"

Max said sadly "I know."

"What do you say to your sister?"  His mother said like he should know.

"Sorry"  Max said it really quickly like it didn't mean anything.

"In a nice way, Max."  Her mother said in a demanding voice.

"I'm sorry Samantha"  he said nicely.  His mother walked off.  Max smiled, then ran towards Samantha.

"Mom!"  Samantha yelled.

"What is it now honey?"  Her mother sounded annoyed.

"Max tackled me again!"

"Max go to your room!"  His mother commanded!  Max went to his room.

"Thanks, mom!"  Samantha said.

Feelings for Literacy Narrative

In class we have been working on the literacy narrative.  We have been writing rough drafts and pre-paring ourselves.  So that we can do our best!  At first it seems a little scary.  Thinking back in the past about your writing or reading career.  Once I started I got to getting some good things down on paper.  Although, I feel as like I don't have enough to write about.  However, I know I do.

I like writing so the literacy narrative should be fun, even though it was a little scary.  I am excited when I finish because I know I will have produced a good pice of writing.  All the hard work and long hours would have paid off!  I also suggest on any paper, essay, or story, really any  piece of writting to pre-write!  It gets your ideas on paper so you won't forget them and gives you a sense of organization.  I am excited for the literacy narrative, mainly because I have never wrote on before.  I hope you are too!

The Butler

My family and I love going to see movies!  We have already gone twice this week.  We went saturday and today, monday.  Today I saw Lee Daniels’ The Butler, with my family but also my grandparents.  It was my grandmother who wanted to see it.  We all agreed.  I loved it.  I was also touched by the compelling story that was told of the main character, Cecil.  I think we were all touched.

The story began when he was little.  Cecil is black and grew up on a cotton farm with his parents.  His Mom and Dad were both abused.  Since the tragic things happened when was just a kid, a white lady living in the plantation brought him up as a house slave. By the tragic things that happened in front of him he decided to leave.  He went to Georgia and then got a job offer in D.C.  Although this seems harsh, this got him all the way to The White House.  Cecil worked there for twenty years, retired and lived through one of his two sons and wife die.  He went though the time of Martin Luther King and Kennedy.  It was great and touching  movie for any age.

Seventeenth Summer

As you may know I am reading Coco Chanel An Intimate Life.  So far, it has been a great book!  I enjoy reading about Coco Chanel and her life journey.  Some parts have been sad and others very happy!  She has been through thick and thin so far.  Coco Chanel An Intimate Life would be a great book for girls who like fashion and drama.

Earlier this week, tuesday I found a book called Seventeenth Summer.  I have also been reading this book since tuesday.  I absolutely love it!  It is a great teenage book for girls.  I am a little confused about the time and setting.  If anyone has read this book maybe you can help?  Although, I am not sure about some parts, others are just great!  I like how the beginning you start out with background, then jump right to the scene.  Seventeenth Summer is also a great book for girls who like drama and romance.
