Macbeth Big Ideas
One of the big ideas that I think is in Macbeth is 'Foul is fair and fair is foul.' I really think that we should be paying attention to this idea of good is bad and bad is good. The whole play I believe is about this concept. For example Macbeth seemed like a hero and good guy in the beginning of the play. Now he is the opposite killing people left and right and forgetting what the sound of screaming women sound like. Where as Lady Macbeth seemed very manipulative and also mean in the beginning. Lady Macbeth now is crying and having nightmares of the guilt she feels for going through with Macbeth on all of these bad things.
The idea of bad is good and good is bad is definitely part of s theme in the play. There is a lot of evidence of good is bad and bad is good. However I am not quite yet sure what the overall theme of the book is. Yes I believe that 'Foul is fair and fair is foul' contributes to a theme. I am just not sure yet.
If anyone has any ideas on what the overall theme of the play is I would love to here them!

Macbeth Qoutations
There are many quotations I could have chosen to dissect. The one that I think is most important comes up in the earliest part of Macbeth. The quotation I chose the witches say and it goes like this "Foul is Fair and Fair is Foul, Hover through the fog and filthy air" Act 1, Scene 1, Line 12-13 pg. 7.
"Foul" means bad, where as "Fair" means good. Bad is good and good is bad. This line represents deception, and that things never seem how they really are. For example, none of Lords so far really know that Macbeth killed King Duncan, the audience thought Banqou was Macbeth's friend until he killed him.
There are many lines, quotes and behavior of characters that support my conclusion. Another example of representation of deception would be Lady Macbeth talking to Macbeth saying "Your hand, your tongue. Look like th' innocent flower. But be the serpent under it." Act 1, scene 6, line 76-78 pg. 35
Lady Macbeth is saying look innocent and hide the evil thoughts that are in your mind, a.k.a deception. In conclusion, the line "Foul is Fair and Fair is Foul, Hover through the fog and filthy air" Act 1, Scene 1, Line 12-13 pg. 7 represents deception in the book and is present in Acts 1-3.
I am interested to see if deception will be present for the rest of the acts.

The Unknown Power
Have you ever found yourself thinking about question after question and your mind just goes crazy? Human minds, and for what people know, all minds are unimaginably powerful. The power in human minds are so advanced it's crazy. How do pieces of tissue in our body, that is at its essence is made of individual cells, think about building a rocket ship to take to the moon? Or maybe eating a piece of a cake the next day? Or maybe even making a cake flavor that has never been made before?
Do you ever wonder where all of this "thought" comes from? Where is all of our thought developed? The computing power of the mind rivals most modern computers. Why is all our thought only in the mind? I don't have the answer and so far nobody else does either, but where where is the answer?
Another unbelievable thought would be 'Are we our brain but not our body?' Yes we need a heart, some lungs and other organs to support our brain. Our eyes according to science do not think, our ears, heart, or lungs do not think either, but our brain does think. Our brain does not just think our brain tells us, when our lungs should breath, who we like, what foods we hate, when we should drink some water and so much more.
Some people, who experienced unfortunate paralysis, lost the use of their body, but their brain still worked fine. They were still alive, and thought existed in their brains. Would you exist if your brain was supported not by our body but mechanical means? If our brain were kept alive in a solution, and lived, would be be alive?
How is our brain so unimaginably powerful? Science has yet to know the answer of our brain. But we all have one. And we can all use our brains to think about the solution to this mystery.

Macbeth Quotations
Motivation is demonstrated in Macbeth periodically. Many people conclude that motivation is desirable as shown in this quote “Ambition is a positive, desirable trait in a person” overall my opinion agrees with this statement. For example, “Stay you imperfect speakers. Tell me more (19).” Here Macbeth is saying tell me more, he is motivated to see his future as king, which is some cases is good. Another example would be when Macbeth says “If good, why do I yield to that suggestion whose horrid image doth unfix my hair and make me seated heart knock at my ribs against the use of nature (23). Macbeth here is wondering if him being king is a good thing why do I want to kill King Duncan? Macbeth is debating and thinking about if he should do anything to help him become king or just let it happen. He is motivated behind this action because he wants to become king however motivation provides desire to reach however motivation itself is not bad, the goal behind it maybe.
Power and material things do make some people happy and or bring joy to the world however many people have unlimited material things and are still unsatisfied with their lives. Therefore, the quote “If you are in a position of power, you are happy.” is very disagreeable especially concerning Macbeth. For example, “Stars, hide your fires; let not light see my black and deep desires (29). Here Macbeth is saying he is going to kill King Duncan and doesn’t want even the stars to see it is so bad. If the statement above is true, why would Macbeth have to do these terrible things that is so bad the stars shouldn't see. In conclusion, I would disagree with the statement of power equals happiness, with evidence from Macbeth that it is not a true statement.

Sheet Metal
The luxurious petals
of the velvety rose
are soft as
the dewey mountain air
in the high Himalayan Mountains.
All mountains snow and sleet smothered
small sections
of the spectacular snowy
scene surrounding spring sunlight.
Through the tumbled mountains
hard rusted hulks of sheet
metal enclosed in the automobile graveyard
by a harsh raucous fence.
Euphony
Sibilance

"We Didn't Start the Fire"
In 1989, singer/songwriter Billy Joel created a very interesting song, whose meaning still resonates today: We Didn't Start the Fire.
The basic message of the song this that there has always been controversy in the world, ever since you were little, ever since I was little, it never seems to end. The "we" in the song seems to refer to the singer's generation, although can able to all generations.
Billy Joel really drives home the idea that "we didn't start the fire" by using internal rhyme, cacophony, and assonance, to persuade the listener that world events, both good and bad, continue throughout history.
For an example of assonance, Billy Joel says "Princess Grace, Peyton Place." Here the "ace" at the end of both words, makes the phrase rhyme and continues the song's theme. Princess Grace refers the the ascent of Grace Kelly, and American actress to the throne of Monaco. Peyton Place refers to a controversial 1956 novel of the same name and a later TV series.
Billy Joel uses the technique of internal rhyme when he sings "Moonshot, Woodstock" referring to the ubiquitous landing on the moon in 1969 of John Glenn of the United States. Woodstock of course refers to the music festival of the same era that defined a generation. The way that these events are temporally placed and in various rhyming fashion draws the listener to the message.
One of the most used sound patterns in "We Didn't start the Fire" is cacophony. As Billy Joel says "We didn't start the fire, it was always burring since the worlds been turning" he exhibits cacophony though "burning," "turning," and "fire." At the same time, Joel drives the point home that the problems of the world are truly not the fault of any generation, but are problems of humankind.

Success
One of the most wanted things in the world is success. Many people may want success however many people don't get success, although there are those few lucky people who do run across success. Success comes in many forms depending on what a person considers successful. For example some people think being rich is successful while others think just having love is true success. I am not sure where I fall on what I consider to be success however I know it falls in between love and material things. This might be selfish to think that material things is success, although many people do anyways. Success only comes across a few people, those people are success flu because of two reasons that make up sucess.
There are two things that I think make up success. These two "ingredients" that make up success determine people's life. The first "ingredient" is preparation. The great thing about one of the "ingredients" that makes up success is preparation, is that you can control fifty percent of your chances in being successful. Now some people take this serious and prepare themselves for whatever there goal or success is. While others just do not care. The last "ingredient" that makes up success is luck. Now this where is gets tricky. You can prepare yourself all you want but success does not just come off properness but luck. Luck you can not do anything about. For example people prepare all there life for something, may not be successful because of their luck. However some people do not prepare at all may be extremely lucky and the result is much success. Life comes with it's ups and downs, there things you can control and things can't so if something goes wrong and your tried know you tried your best.

Rough Draft
This rough draft we are working in has it's pros and cons. It defiantly shows me where I am as a writer example my strengths and weaknesses. Another "pro" would be that I improve as a writer, which is really good. However like everything there are some cons, it is time consuming. But isn't all papers? That's about it on the cons of this research paper rough draft. One thing in my rough draft that I am sure of is the structure/organization.
I am very confident in this part of the research paper, because it has always been a good aspect in most of my papers. I am defiantly unsure of how i use my quotations, yeah I know we went over this like a billion times in class. The thing that I am really unsure of is when I use my quotations with quotation marks, like just showing where you got you "advanced" knowledge from. The easiest part was putting the body paragraphs together. What made this easy? Well I had a good outline that helped me a lot in writing the rough draft. I would like help changing me transitions and making sure my quotations are right. You should defiantly focus on my quotations, transitions, and structure. Have fun reading!

Clara Barton
When we first heard about National History Day and that we needed a topic, I instantly knew what I was going to do. Earlier in my life I have developed a basic knowledge about Clara Barton, a civil war nurse, however wanted to expand my knowledge. So here I am today researching all about Clara Barton. my thesis statement is Clara Barton helped expand women’s role in society. This was achieved through teaching, the establishment
of charities and through avocation. In
each of these, she advanced the rights and responsibilities of women not only
in her time, but also today. Interestingly enough many people associate her with medical work fields and there expansions, although I thought of her as an expander for women's rights. I found out that she was one of the first women to help with the war, one of the first women to work for the government, and one of the first women to go on to the battle field. All of these actions contributed to breaking down barriers between women and men.
Clara Barton was a world wide hero. She was known for her contributions to the medical work field, the civil war and even some international wars. However not many people associated her with women's rights. For this reason I choose her for my National History Day Project. What I have concluded about her and her impact on the world is through my thesis, stated here: Clara Barton helped expand women’s role in society. This was achieved through teaching, the establishment
of charities and through avocation. In
each of these, she advanced the rights and responsibilities of women not only
in her time, but also today. I have learned many things through my research on her. She was one of the first women to work for the government, help with the civil war, and she lobbied for America's branch of Red Cross. All of her actions contributed to breaking down barriers between women and men and even establishing new charities.

Seventeenth Summer
I read Seventeenth Summer this year. It was so good. One of the most vivid scenes I remember is very interesting. There is this girl, who is now with this boy because he liked her. However he is from the "cooler" group and they hang out. They live in the North near a lake and visit there often. That was the gist of it now for the real scene.
"Are you sure this is ok?" Annie said to Jack, questioning him.
"Yeah it wail be fun!" Jack replied.
Annie and Jack were hanging out for a while now. They were going on a boat ride and Jack's friend would control the boat. She was very reluctant to go because of the dark sky and that his friend had to be there to.
After I stepped on the boat and we took off from shore, it was ok. After getting over my worries I noticed the beautiful night sky.
"Are you cold?" Jack eagerly asked Annie.
"I am a little chilly." She said.
Jack gave Annie his sweater from basketball.
"Thanks!" Annie told Jack.
"No problem."
"Aren't we getting a little far out from shore?" Annie asked.
"We are ok, I come out here all of the time! Especially near the lighthouse right over there!" Jack replied.
The End.
A response to Madison's Prompt.
